The value of the fore-sightTM monitor in the postoperative phase after congenital cardiac surgery. a descriptive statistical interim-analysis

چکیده
Introduction The FORE-SIGHT monitor measures absolute cerebral tissue oxygen saturation (SctO2) of the frontal lobes of the brain, in a non-invasive way, through near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) [1]. Its value for early detection of hemodynamic deterioration in the postoperative phase after congenital cardiac surgery has never been examined. In a prospective observational study [2], 300 mechanically ventilated patients younger than 12 years after cardiac surgery will be monitored with NIRS, in addition to their routine haemodynamic monitoring. The NIRS monitor is blinded to clinicians, and its predictive value to detect predefined critical hemodynamic events will be analysed.

Non-thyroidal illness syndrome and cardiopulmonary bypass in children with congenital heart disease
Abstract Background: The thyroid hormones influence on all metabolic pathways. After heart surgery using cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), serum T3 decreases and remains low for at least 24 hours. Several studies on pediatric have reported reduction of thyroid hormones after heart surgery. This study aimed to investigate the status of thyroid function tests in children with CPB surgery. Metho...
متن کاملRight ventricular Hemodynamic Alteration after Pulmonary Valve Replacement in Children with Congenital Heart Disease
Introduction: In patients who underwent surgery to repair Tetralogy of Fallot, right ventricular dilation from pulmonary regurgitation may be result in right ventricular failure, arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Hence, pulmonary valve replacement may be necessary to reduce right ventricular volume overload. The aim of present study was to assess the effects of pulmonary valve replacement on rig...
متن کاملSurgical outcomes of congenital heart diseases in a pediatric hospital: a two-year survey
Introduction: Along with advances occurring in cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) including improved anesthesia intubation and early surgical interventions, it has become possible to correct life-threatening congenital heart anatomic abnormalities in patients. Our study aimed to collect information from one of the most important centers of pediatric cardiac surgery in Iran since there is limited info...
متن کاملBase deficit in the immediate postoperative period of open-heart surgery and patient outcome
Abstarct Background: Base deficit is a non-respiratory indicator of acid base status that evaluates the severity of shock at the cellular level. Base deficit results from cellular metabolism of pyruvate under anaerobic conditions. In this situation, base deficit is a sensitive marker of the magnitude of anaerobic metabolism and tissue oxygen deficit [1]. Several studies have shown a strong pos...
متن کاملFrailty effects and euro score system evaluation in postoperative outcomes of cardiac surgery patients
Background: Several scoring systems are available to evaluate the cardiac surgery risk. Frailty increases the risk of adverse outcomes after surgery. The Frailty evaluation system is a relatively new method, and in this study, we compared the frailty scoring method with the conventional Euroscore method. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 88 elderly patients (over 65 years of...
